A Level II recovery residence refers to a classification from the National Alliance for Recovery Residences (NARR) standards, which set guidelines for sober living environments. Each level reflects increasing structure and services.
Peer-run with some staff oversight – Unlike Level I (which is purely peer-run), Level II homes have a house manager or senior resident providing oversight.
Residents must remain abstinent and agree to random drug/alcohol testing.
Curfews, chores, mandatory meetings, and behavioral expectations are enforced.
Residents support one another in recovery and often attend 12-step or other recovery meetings.
Help with employment, education, budgeting, and daily living skills.
While the residence itself doesn’t provide formal clinical services, staff may help connect residents to outside treatment providers, counselors, or support groups.
It’s more structured than Level I, but still not a treatment center (that begins more at Levels III & IV).
Think of Level II as a peer-supportive sober living environment with light staff monitoring a step up in structure from pure peer-run housing but not as intensive as a clinical halfway house.
